ZIMBABWE has not recorded any new Covid-19 cases in over a week with recoveries now at nine leaving only 21 active cases.
Four people have died from the respiratory disease in a total of 34 cases.
The country recorded its first case of the disease more than two months ago and has conducted 8.141 tests to date.
Ministry of Health and Child Care says recoveries have been recorded in the only case in Matebeleland North, four cases in Mashonaland east and four cases in Harare.
The low infection prevalence is credited to the country’s early and aggressive response to the pandemic which has now killed over 270,880 among 3,930,784 confirmed cases globally by May 8.
Africa had 54,083 cases, 2,073 deaths, 18,412 recoveries across 53 countries with Lesotho the only one yet to be affected.
