ZIMBABWE’S coronavirus cases have climbed to 28 after three people tested positive to the bug that caused Covid-19 Tuesday.
All three were recorded in Harare.
Ministry of Health and Child Care said in a statement 841 tests were conducted nationwide with three testing positive and results still pending on 65 others.
The country still has only three deaths and two recoveries from the novel coronavirus which has now killed over 160 000 people and infected more than 2.6 million globally.
The country this week extended its initial 21-day national lockdown to 35 days arguing that cases were now on the rise and it is yet to meet the recommended World Health Organisation conditions for lifting a lockdown.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa said in announcing the extension the country was hoping to keep the number of infections below 100 to prevent its wild exponential spread that would completely overwhelm the country’s health care system.
