MISS Tourism Zimbabwe (MTZ) suffered the rare consequences of going for brainy beauty models when one of their 20 models failed to make it to the competition’s finals due to examination commitments.
MTZ national license holder Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda said they postponed the event several times to ensure that all of her pageant’s beauties could make it but could not continue doing so into the Christmas holidays.
“It’s sad that we had to miss one of our girls due to examination commitments. She is writing examinations all through this week,” Mpofu-Sibanda told journalists at the weekend.
The beauty contest goes beyond looks to girls’ intelligence invariably meaning either professionals or girls from the country’s tertiary institutions dominate the pageantry.
Mpofu-Sibanda however said there was no sense of loss for Olinda Mudzingwa as she would ensure that she continues to work with all the models beyond the finals.
“We’ll continue working with all the ladies (finalists) and we are not going to be dumping them after the finals because they are all queens from where they come from,” she said.
The finals that will be held at a glamorous event at Montclair Hotel and Casino in Nyanga on December 14 is expected to produce the country’s representative at Miss World finals.
